Santa Barbara Scenes: Summertime Entertainment and Activities

While Summertime is often full of beach days and bbq-strewn evenings, Santa Barbara offers some season entertainment options that make the long nights and light days even more enjoyable. Check out some of these offerings that are good for friends and family alike!

UCSB A&L - Films @ the Courthouse 8/8/14 SB Courthouse Sunken Gardens

Courthouse Movies. With a different theme each year, Friday nights at the Sunken Gardens at the Santa Barbara Courthouse are packed full of chairs, blankets and spectators who cozy up for an on-screen movie viewing. Bring your own picnic, beverages and lawn gear as you get comfortable. This season’s theme is Bogie and Bacall, with features such as Casablanca and Key Largo.


$2 Tuesdays. Family friendly and kid-approved, Tuesday mornings at Metro Theaters are the steal of the summer. With a variety of big screen showings that the whole family can enjoy, this deal is a great way to find something that suits everyone with plenty of time left in your day. This summer, enjoy favorites such as Sing, The Lorax and Kung Fu Panda 3.

Concerts in the Park. Beginning July 6th, each Thursday evening at Chase Palm Park is laden with live music and eager onlookers. Bring your own food and beverages as you enjoy a new musical line up each week steps away from the beach. With an expected audience of over 5,000, this is one of Santa Barbara’s most popular summertime entertainment activities.


Nite Moves. While the season starts in May, this weekly swim and/or run is a popular summertime event in Santa Barbara. Open to all ages, this 1k swim and 5k run is a popular Wednesday evening attraction that includes fitness, food and entertainment. Enjoy beer, beverages and featured meals after your race, and then check out the many vendors and live music sprawled across Leadbetter Beach.
